Transition Year Overview

The Transition Year programme is an optional extra year, which is offered to students after the Junior Certificate, and before the Leaving Certificate. As the name suggests, the Transition Year aims to bridge the gap between junior and senior levels.

The programme involves a wide variety of subjects and activities which are not available to regular Leaving Cert students. Former Transition Year students have received certificates in First Aid, Sign Language, Computers, Typing, Legal Studies, Speech & Drama, Photography, etc.

Work experience is part of the Transition Year Programme but the academic aspect of school life is by no means forgotten. The core subjects such as English, Irish, Maths, and European Languages are continued and a good foundation is laid for 5th Year.
